A Design and Technical Development Workshop in Wood Carving was held in Metagalli, Mysore. Designer, Shri.Anandbabu M. Ambarkhane conducted the workshop,in which 30 craftspersons participated.The workshop was sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi.
The Crafts Council of Karnataka organised an Integrated Technical and Design Development Project in Stone Carving. NID trained designer Sibanand Bol and Master Craftsperson Shri Seshadev Sahoo conducted the training, in which 20 artisans participated. New designs for utilitarian objects inspired by the architecture and sculptures of the Halebidu Temple of the Hoysala dynasty were created.
The workshop was sponsored by The Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director, industries and Commerce Department, Govt.of Karnataka and The Managing Director, KSHDC Development Corporation Ltd. Bangalore.
CCK facilitated issuance of Artisans Identity Cards and Health Insurance Cards for participants through the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
Kuteera – the Annual Exhibition and Sale of Crafts was held at Karnataka Chitra Kala Parishath, in which 45 craftspersons from across India participated.
The Crafts Council of Karnataka’s annual flag ship event Vastrabharana - Exhibition and Sale of hand- crafted textiles and jewellery was held between 30 September and 05 October 2009.
