The Crafts Council of Karnataka’s annual flag ship event Vastrabharana - Exhibition and Sale of hand- crafted textiles and jewellery was held between September/October 2003.

Crafts Council of India in association with The Crafts Council of Karnataka held the Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay Birth Centenary Celebrations between 3 -7 April 2003. In Bangalore.The week long celebrations got off to a ceremonial start with great spectacle and pageantry on 03 April, Kamaladevi’s birthday. It featured several events: an exhibition on Life and Times of Kamaladevi, an international seminar on Kamaladevi, an exhibition of vegetable- dyed textiles from many countries and Kamala-2003, an exhibition and sale of exclusive crafts presented by Crafts Councils from across the country.

The Crafts Council of Karnataka presented a two day performing arts festival in Bangalore that showcased the performing arts that Kamaladevi helped to promote.

Crafts Council of Karnataka brought out a special publication “KAMALADEVI CHATTOPADHYAY--‐A TRUE KARMAYOGI’ edited by Shri. M.V. Narayana Rao, which was released by His Excellency, Governor of Karnataka.The book highlights Kamaladevi’s pioneering efforts in the promotion of Indian Handicrafts and her tireless efforts in improving the status of craftspersons and contributing to efforts to obtain sustainable livelihoods.

Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay Birth Centenary Celebrations was also held in Mangalore, her birthplace, in February 2004.

A seminar on “KAMALA DEVI AND FOLK CRAFTS OF DAKSHINA KANNADA REGION” was held at the University College, where Kamaladevi studied, in which several eminent scholars of the region participated. A publication containing papers presented by participants, was released at the valedictory function held on October 2004.
