KAMALA 2001

(19- 25 JANUARY 2001) MUMBAI

The Crafts Council of Karnataka participated in Kamala 2001 –a Joint Crafts Councils Exhibition at Bombay.

Shri Dhananjay Kumar, Hon. Minister for Textiles, Govt. of India, inaugurated the exhibition.

The exhibition was sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

KUTEERA 2001 – EXHIBITION AND SALE OF CRAFTS

(13 - 20 FEBRUARY 2001) Bangalore

The Crafts Council of Karnataka organised Kuteera - Exhibition and Sale of Crafts, at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath between 13-20 February 2001, in which 13 craftspersons from across the country participated.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Smt. Ammani Iyengar, President of M.E W.S. Ladies Club.

The exhibition and sale was sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner ( Handicrafts) Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi.

VASTRABHARANA 2000

(12- 18 OCTOBER 2000) Bangalore

The Crafts Council of Karnataka’s annual flag ship event, Vastrabharana - Exhibition and Sale of hand- crafted textiles and jewellery was held at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath between 12 -18 October 2000, in which 28 textile exhibitors from across the country participated.

Her Excellency, Governor of Karnataka ,Smt. V.S. Rama Devi, inaugurated the exhibition.

KAMALADEVI CHATTOPADHYAY VISHWAKARMA AWARDS

(29 JULY 2000) Bangalore

These awards, instituted in the name of Smt.Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, Founder Patron of The Crafts Council of Karnataka, for young and promising craftspersons, were given at an awards event, held at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath on 29 July 2000. Vidyalankara Prof. S.K. Ramachandra Rao gave away the awards to the following craftspersons of Karnataka :

  • Shri Prabhakar Rao Pise of Bidar (1997) for Bidri Craft
  • Shri Viresh G. Mayacharya of Bagalkot (1998) for Stone and Metal Craft.

National Awardees, Smt. Bindu Mathai (1997), for Terracotta Jewellery and Shri Eswar Naik (1998) for Chittara Painting as well as winner of the Amarshilpi Jakkanacharya Award -Shri Shamaraya Acharya (1999) were felicitated.

GANJIFA CRAFTS – EXHIBITION& SALE

(5 – 11 JUNE 2000) Bangalore

The Crafts Council of Karnataka in co – operation with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan organised an Exhibition and Sale of Ganjifa Crafts between 5 -11 June 2000 at Bharatiya Bhavan.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Hadpad, Director, Ken School Of Arts, Bangalore.
