The Crafts Council of Karnataka, in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, organised an Illustrated Talk by Smt. Vatsala Iyengar and Smt. Tara Kashyap on the impact of Hinduism and Buddhism on the temples, traditions and crafts of Indonesia.
The Crafts Council of Karnataka participated in this event organized by The Crafts Council of India. Highlight of CCK product Initiatives was wood- inlay products designed by eminent artist S.G. Vasudev and crafted by National Awardee Craftsperson Shri. L. Nagraj.
The Crafts Council of Karnataka organised Kuteera, Exhibition and Sale of crafts, at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, in which craftspersons from across the country participated.
The exhibition and sale was sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi
The Crafts Council of Karnataka’s annual flagship event, Vastrabharana - Exhibition and Sale of hand- crafted textiles and jewellery was held in 1997 at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore, in which textile exhibitors participated.
Smt. Bindu Mathai, craftsperson from Karnataka was awarded the National Award for Excellence in Terracotta Jewellery for the year 1997.
